New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Jack Dorsey-backed social media network BlueSky saw a surge in new user sign-ups after Elon Musk announced that it will soon charge all X users a monthly fee. Musk’s announcement earlier this week backfired as daily active users on BlueSky broke records.
BlueSky had half a million daily active users on its Android app on the day of Musk’s announcement, and its web traffic increased even more, according to data from analytics firm SimilarWeb. Daily active users for BlueSky on Android are up 20.6 percent.
According to TechCrunch report, after Musk’s announcement, 53,585 people signed up to BlueSky in a day, which is five percent of the platform’s approximately 11.3 lakh users. In a live-streamed conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the X boss floated the idea that the social network can no longer be a free site. “This is the only way I can think of to combat a huge army of bots,” Musk said.
