Sunak will first meet his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, after which the British leader will visit other regional capitals, BBC News reports. Before his visit, he had said, the death of every civilian is a tragedy. And many people have lost their lives due to the terror of Hamas.
The BBC also said the Prime Minister would express his condolences to the civilians killed in Hamas’ deadly attacks, as well as press for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza as soon as possible. Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley will meet the leaders of Egypt, Turkey and Qatar in the coming days to seek support for a peaceful solution between Israel and Gaza.
He will push for an agreement on humanitarian access to Gaza and the release of British hostages held by Hamas, the BBC reports. Sunak and Cleverley’s visits follow Biden’s visit to Israel on Wednesday.
Biden said the explosion appeared to be caused by a failed rocket launched by Palestinian militants, the BBC reported. But Palestinian officials said the Israeli airstrike targeted the hospital. On Wednesday, Sunak said that British intelligence agencies were trying to find out who was behind the blast. He told MPs not to “rush into decisions.
