Chandigarh (Dinesh): During the ongoing anti-corruption campaign in the state, Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday found a person, Pradeep Kumar, resident of Khalwara Colony, Phagwara, District Kapurthala, demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in the name of Tehsildar and arrested Manager Fard Center Phagwara on the charge. to be done.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the case against the accused has been registered on the basis of an online complaint lodged in the Chief Minister’s Office by Manjeet Singh, resident of village Madhopur in Phagwara tehsil. He said that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that his wife had given an application regarding inheritance of ancestral land to a Tehsildar, who had forwarded the application to the concerned Patwari, but the above accused had deposited Rs 1 lakh in this case. Has demanded. Because he had assured the complainant of work and said that in this regard the Tehsildar and the manager of the Fard Center were demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
The complainant also made a voice recording of the said accused asking for money, which he handed over to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence. In this regard, Vigilance Range Jalandhar investigated the complaint and found the allegations made by the complainant to be true. On the basis of this report, a case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Jalandhar range of Vigilance Bureau and he has been arrested. The accused will be produced before the competent court tomorrow. He said that further investigation into this matter is ongoing.
