Moscow, 11 April (HS). The Shivluch volcano has erupted in Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. Due to the eruption of the volcano, a cloud of ash was seen up to ten kilometers high. A warning has been issued calling it a threat to air traffic.
The Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team has been activated after the volcano erupted. The team has issued a warning to the aviation department. It is feared that this volcano can explode up to 15 kilometers high at any time. This may adversely affect airlines flying at low altitudes. Also, international activities can also be affected.
Precautionary measures have started across the region. Nearby schools have been closed. People were ordered to stay in their homes. An official said that the smoke after the eruption of the volcano has spread to the regions of Klyuchi and Kozyrevsk, 70 kilometers away.
