Ajit Doval said that India and China have broad common interests. Wang Yi has also been the former Foreign Minister of China. Doval said that the destinies of both the sides are closely linked. In such a situation, it is necessary to rebuild strategic mutual trust and seek common development. Doval made it clear to Wang that India was willing to work with China to find a solution to the situation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Relationship strained for three years
Relations between the two neighbors have been particularly strained in recent years since the Galvan violence in 2020 along the disputed border in eastern Ladakh. In this, at least 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in the violence. Continuous efforts are being made for dialogue from the side of China and India. In early July, Wang met Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on the sidelines of a meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers in Jakarta. In his meeting with Jaishankar, Wang urged India to meet China halfway and find a solution to the border dispute that is acceptable to both sides.
