War-related capabilities should be strengthened against America and South Korea: Kim Jong Un – Dainik Savera Times

Seoul: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for strengthening combat capabilities against the US and South Korea. Government media gave this information on Thursday. Earlier, North Korea had threatened to take action in response to the US-South Korea joint exercises. North Korea’s official news agency, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), said Kim, during a visit to a western operational training military base on Wednesday, told the military to “rapidly improve its combat capabilities for war preparations.” With the aim of achieving this, actual war practice should be continuously intensified.

According to KCNA, Kim said utmost readiness was needed to “control the persistent threat of enemies with overwhelming force.” He said Kim guided the maneuvers of military units, but did not provide details. Two days before Kim’s statement, North Korea on Tuesday described the joint military exercise of the US and South Korea as a conspiracy to attack it and said that it will not shy away from retaliating.

South Korean and US militaries began an 11-day exercise of training in a ‘computer-simulated command post’ and battlefield called ‘Freedom Shield’. In a statement carried on state media, North Korea’s Defense Ministry said it strongly condemned the joint military exercises between the US and South Korea as a conspiracy to pose a military threat to a sovereign nation. The statement quoted a spokesman as saying that North Korea will monitor the actions of its “enemies” and take necessary measures to retaliate.
