The incident took place on Sunday in the disputed Neelum Valley district of the Himalayan region, said Khalid Aziz, a local police officer. Initially, one tourist was killed and five other tourists were injured in the incident, the official said, while later the police came to know that eight tourists were missing in the incident.
He told that there is no hope of his survival due to the strong current of the river.

Significantly, at least 14 people, including nine tourists killed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, have died after heavy rains lashed different parts of Pakistan on Saturday. These include the death of at least four people in southwestern Balochistan province and the death of a boy in Karachi. Later, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif issued an alert and asked disaster management officials to be alert to ensure the safety of the people.

He also asked highway officials to be vigilant, as landslides caused by the rains blocked some roads, briefly over the weekend.
