Pakistan on Monday said the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to abrogate Article 370 has no legal value. The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the decision to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The country’s top court has also said that Article 370 was a temporary provision.
Earlier, former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif criticized the apex court’s decision, calling it a partisan decision. Sharif, who will serve as prime minister from April 2022-August 2023, said the Indian Supreme Court had violated international laws by ruling against the UN resolutions. The Indian Supreme Court has betrayed the sacrifice of millions of Kashmiris.
Pakistan’s acting Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said in a post on X that international law does not recognize India’s unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019. Judicial endorsement by the Supreme Court of India has no legal value. Kashmiris have the inalienable right to self-determination as per relevant UN SC resolutions.
