Why China people Chinese Citizens are facing anger of Balochs in Pakistan
[ad_1]
China is the reason for displacement
Many projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are currently underway in Balochistan. According to a report in Economic Times, the real reason for this displacement in the name of development is China. The presence of China in Gwadar port has added to the existing problems. Recently, a convoy carrying Chinese personnel was targeted by Baloch insurgents. Last year, a suicide bomber from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) killed three Chinese teachers attached to the Confucius Institute of Karachi University and their Pakistani driver.
Many dangerous attacks in two years
Similarly in the year 2021, there was a suicide attack on a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals in Gwadar. The same year, a bus attack near the Dasu Hydropower Plant in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Kohistan district killed 13 people, including nine Chinese workers. In April 2021 also a suicide bomber attacked outside the Serena Hotel in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. At least four people died in this attack. According to an expert on China-Pakistan relations, the target was Nong Rong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, who had checked into the hotel. Balochistan’s strategic importance as well as its natural resources has given rise to permanent tensions and conflicts because of projects such as the CPEC and its key components, the Gwadar Port.
China making huge profits
According to Chinese military affairs experts, the Gwadar port gives Beijing access to the Indian Ocean region. While also strengthening the possibilities of a military base in the area. The port is completely operated by the government of Pakistan. Here only Chinese citizens have been given employment and no local person has been included. If experts are to be believed, the gold mine in Sandak in Balochistan is also making the Chinese rich. This mine is operated from the Chinese side only.
