Why did Pakistan ban New Year celebrations, this big reason came to light

Pakistan’s acting Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar announced a ban on New Year celebrations in the country to express solidarity with the people in Gaza. In a brief address to the nation, Kakar urged solidarity with Palestinians and restraint and humility in the New Year. He said that keeping in mind the gravely worrying situation in Palestine and to show solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters, the government will impose a strict ban on any kind of event for the New Year.

He said that since the Israeli bombardment began on October 7, more than 21,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, who have crossed all limits of violence and injustice, and nearly 9,000 children have been killed. The entire Pakistani nation and the Muslim world is in a state of extreme anguish over the massacre of innocent children and unarmed Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. He said that Pakistan has sent two aid packages to Palestine while the third package is being prepared.

He said Pakistan is engaged in talks with Jordan and Egypt to provide timely aid to Palestine and evacuate the injured present in Gaza. Kakar said Pakistan has tried to highlight the plight of the Palestinian people at various global forums and will continue to do so in the future to stop Israeli bloodshed. New Year celebrations in Pakistan are traditionally not very large due to the influence of Islamic groups, who try to prevent celebrations through various means, including the use of force.
