san francisco (Uttam Hindu News): With around 65 lakh subscribers in the country, streaming platform Netflix is more or less failing to grow its business in the Indian market. Citing analysts at global asset management firm AllianceBernstein, TechCrunch reported on Friday that Netflix’s slow growth in India is mainly due to the lack of local content.
Netflix in India: The analyst reportedly said that only 12 percent of the titles offered by Netflix in India were local content. In comparison, about 60 percent of Amazon Prime Video’s offerings were in home languages in the country. Prime Video has around 20 million subscribers in India and Disney Plus Hotstar dominates the market with over 40 million subscribers, the report said.
For example, India is likely YouTube’s biggest market and a key growth area for social media names, he said in a note. Netflix has not yet commented on the report.
