fast growing economy
The British newspaper The Economist has described India as the fastest growing economy in the world. According to the newspaper, India’s GDP can replace that of Japan and Germany by the year 2028. According to the newspaper, India’s export is related to services and due to this it has now become the seventh largest exporting country in the world. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there has been a quadruple progress in India’s infrastructure day and night. Along with this, manufacturing has also increased because the supply chain here is quite different from China. The Economist cited the example of Apple, which has now started manufacturing seven per cent of iPhones in India.
It is clear that India is getting more economic benefits than China. In such a situation, it is necessary to be against China. In such a situation, the possibility that America will take any kind of risk with China after its experiences, seems to be zero. It has been written in the newspaper that it is necessary for India and America to stay close because both the countries have the same doubts about China. This attitude will strengthen China to refuse to cooperate with India. China believes that its philosophy and democracy are not in line with Western ideals.
Indians dominated in America
The Economist also pointed out that three of the top five US business schools have Indian presidents and CEOs. Alphabet, IBM and Microsoft are today run by Indian-origin CEOs. This only shows what Indian Americans have achieved in this country. On the other hand, 70 percent of the general population of America have a positive opinion about India. Whereas in the case of China this figure is only 15 per cent.
key part of the quad
India is also an important part of the Quad security alliance which also includes the US, Australia and Japan. The Biden administration has also taken a big step in accelerating technology transfer with India. According to The Economist, by supporting India’s defense sector, the US wants to distance it from Russia’s arms. Along with this, its objective could be to provide a cheap supply of war related materials to the rest of the Asian countries. The partnership between India and the US has never been closer. But now American leaders, Republicans and Democrats want to see closer relations.
big opportunity for india
Along with this, now India’s foreign policy has become assertive. The US also now sees it as an essential ally in its rivalry with China. PM Modi’s US visit is being seen as an opportunity that can lead to big defense deals between the two countries. According to The Economist, PM Modi will join the ranks of Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Volodymyr Zelensky as the few foreign leaders to have addressed the US Congress more than once. India’s economy is also now realizing its potential. In such a situation, it should not be surprising that the attraction of America is increasing.
