Donald Trump has rejected the idea of choosing Indian-American Nikki Haley, who is in the race to become the presidential candidate from his Republican Party, as his Vice Presidential candidate, saying that she does not have the capability for the post.
Haley had said just hours earlier that she was not running for second place in the Republican primary. “She (Haley) is fine, but she is not a presidential candidate,” Trump said at a rally in Concord on Friday. Trump is the main contender to get the presidential nomination from the Republican Party. “When you say some things, it takes him out of the game,” Trump, 77, said of the former ambassador. “I cannot say that she is not qualified to be Vice President and then say, ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce that I have been chosen.”
Haley is Trump’s closest rival in the elections in New Hampshire. Haley has repeatedly said that she is not seeking the second spot in the Republican primary, although she declined to comment on whether she would be the vice presidential nominee. Earlier on Friday, Haley, 51, told a group of voters that she had no plans to run for vice president.
