Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that he would “welcome” the restoration of full diplomatic relations between Egypt and Iran. His statement raised the possibility of normalizing relations between Cairo and Tehran after decades of tension. Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, according to Iranian state television. This is the Sultan’s first visit to Iran after assuming power in 2020. Meanwhile, a case of hacking of some websites related to the President of Iran has come to light. Some websites carried pictures of two leaders of an exiled opposition group on Monday, others showed pictures of Khamenei and President Ibrahim Raisi. A group of hackers named ‘Ghayam Sarnegouni’ has claimed responsibility for hacking the website belonging to the President’s office of Iran.
