Chinese President Xi Jinping meets with Brazilian President Lula at the Great Hall of the People in the capital Beijing on April 14. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Brazil are the largest developing countries and important emerging markets in the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. We are each other’s all-round strategic partner and have wide-ranging common interests. The overall, strategic and global influence of China-Brazil relations is increasing day by day. Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Brazil. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China is promoting high-quality development and high-level opening-up, and Chinese-style modernization will enhance the great resurgence of the Chinese nation. This will give more opportunities to various countries including Brazil.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Brazil should maintain regular strategic communication and enhance sharing of experience in national governance. We should see each other as important development opportunities and support the development path in line with our own national situation, but also support unity and cooperation among developing countries. China and Brazil should strengthen practical cooperation and expand existing key cooperation projects. In addition, cooperation in green economy, digital economy and clean energy should be strengthened, with the development of the inherent strength of cooperation in agriculture, energy, infrastructure construction, aerospace and technological innovation, etc. China welcomes more of Brazil’s best products to its market.

Lula said that China is indispensable in various areas of the world, including strategy, economy and technology. China plays an extremely important role in maintaining world peace and stability. Brazil develops close relations with China with a strategic vision of establishing a rational and just international order. Brazil is willing to strengthen exchanges with China in fields such as education and culture, so as to enhance people-to-people understanding. Brazil and China have consensus and common interests in very important international affairs. Both our countries defend multilateralism and international fairness and justice. Brazil wants to enhance coordination and cooperation in international finance, combating climate change and environmental protection, as well as strengthening strategic cooperation with China in multilateral frameworks such as the G-20 and BRICS. After the meeting, the two leaders participated in the signing ceremony of cooperation documents in the areas of commerce investment, digital economy, technological innovation, information communication, poverty alleviation and aerospace.
