The 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival recently opened at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The 12-day film festival will screen more than 190 films from 62 countries and territories.

This year’s film festival is being held from March 28 to April 8, with the theme “Gateway to the World”. Of the films selected, 5 are world premieres, 6 are international premieres and 64 films are Asia premieres.

Yang Runxiong, head of the Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. According to him, this year’s Hong Kong International Film Festival provides a valuable platform to promote exchanges between filmmakers from around the world. The local government of Hong Kong actively promotes Hong Kong films and film talents at important film festivals held in mainland China and the world.

This includes inviting delegations from the Hong Kong film industry to participate in major film festivals, organizing Hong Kong film screening events, etc., so as to introduce excellent Hong Kong films to the world, and to promote cultural and cultural exchanges between China and other countries. Artistic exchange can be promoted.
