Russia carried out 99 drone and missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure: officials

Kiev. Russia used 99 drones and missiles in a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Friday. The Armed Forces of Ukraine gave this information. Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said in a message on Telegram that an airstrike warning had been issued across the country as the attacks targeted 10 different regions.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 60 downed drones and 39 missiles of various types were attacked across the country, of which 58 drones and 26 missiles were shot down. Ukraine’s state grid operator Ukrainzo said the attack deliberately targeted energy infrastructure, including thermal and hydroelectric power plants in the central and western regions. DTEK, the country’s largest private power supplier, also said on Friday that three of its thermal power plants were damaged in the attack. At the same time, five people were injured in the attack in Dnipropetrovsk region.

Local governor Serhiy Lyask gave this information. A five-year-old girl is also among the injured. Romania’s Defense Ministry also said on Friday it had launched an investigation after the wreckage of a drone was found on Thursday in an agricultural area in its Brăila county. This place is close to the border of Ukraine. However, it did not provide additional details. Romania, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), has already confirmed the discovery of drone debris in its territory several times.
