New Delhi: Many such cases have come to the fore in the country, in which even after the death of the person, the family members continue to take other facilities including ration and pension in his name. But now this will not happen. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the Aadhaar issuing organization, and the Registrar General of India are going to make sure arrangements for this. The Registrar General of India is the body that keeps records of births and deaths in the country. Both the organizations are working on a mechanism. In this, the Aadhaar will be deactivated as soon as the Death Certificate is issued. According to sources, under this mechanism, as soon as the death certificate of the concerned agency is issued, its information will be sent to the family of the deceased and after their consent, the number will be deactivated.

Sources said that talks are also being held with the state governments to implement this mechanism. To make the death certificate, the family members will have to give the Aadhaar number of the deceased. UIDAI has started the scheme of allotting Aadhaar at the time of issuing birth certificate. So far 20 states have implemented this system. Other states are also likely to start this scheme in the coming days. These features are part of Aadhaar 2.0. Under Aadhaar 2.0, the government is bringing new features along with increasing its credibility.
