Algeria and France hope to end diplomatic deadlock

Algiers Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said during a phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that Algeria’s ambassador to Paris would be appointed soon. This will help in ending the ongoing diplomatic deadlock between the two countries. The Algerian Presidency said in a statement that Ambassador Said Moussi was recalled in early February after Franco-Algerian activists fled France from Algeria via Tunisia, Xinhua news agency reported.
During talks on Friday, Tebboune and Macron agreed to strengthen communication between the administrations of the two countries to avoid a recurrence of such incidents.
It added that the two presidents would promote the bilateral partnership recommended in the Algiers Declaration, signed during Macron’s visit to Algeria last August.
The two leaders also discussed Tebboune’s upcoming visit to France and reviewed a number of international and regional issues of common interest, the statement said.
