Washington (Uttam Hindu News): America has approved an arms deal with Italy. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has given this information in a statement. The statement said, ‘The Department of External Affairs has decided to approve the possible foreign military sale to the Government of Italy of AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles and related equipment at an estimated cost of Rs 96 million.
According to the statement, Italy has deployed twenty-eight AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II Plus tactical missiles, four AIM-9X Block II Plus tactical guidance units, eight AIM-9X Captive Air Training Missiles (CATM) and two AIM-9X CATM guidance units, It is requested to purchase along with additional equipment such as active optical target detectors, personnel training and logistics support services. “This proposed sale will support the United States’ foreign policy objectives and national security objectives by improving the security of our NATO ally, which is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe, and without disrupting the fundamental military balance in the region,” the statement said.
