Arrest warrant hanging again on Imran Khan, non-bailable warrant issued

Islamabad : Once again the sword of arrest is hanging over former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. A Pakistani court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant against Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case. However, he has been granted bail in two other cases. During this, dramatic developments were also witnessed outside the court, where hundreds of Imran’s supporters gathered in his support.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan left for Islamabad from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore to appear in court in three cases. Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal issued the non-bailable warrant against the 70-year-old former prime minister for not appearing before the court several times in the Toshakhana case. With this, the court adjourned the next hearing for March 7.

Explain that Toshakhana is a government department in Pakistan, where the gifts given by the heads of other governments, foreign personalities to the President-Prime Minister, MPs, bureaucrats and officials are kept. Imran Khan is accused of buying gifts kept in the Toshkhana (including an expensive graph watch he received as the then Prime Minister) at low prices and then selling them to make a profit.

However, Imran was granted bail by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and the Banking Court. The banking court has given him this bail in the prohibited money case. The Islamabad police had registered a terrorism case against Imran Khan and senior PTI leaders for allegedly damaging state property, but ATC judge Raja Javed granted Khan interim bail till March 9.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had in October last year filed a case against Khan and other PTI leaders in a banking court in Islamabad for allegedly receiving contraband money. The Election Commission of Pakistan last year found the party guilty of concealing that it had received funds. After this the commission had disqualified Khan.
