Attempted to break the door of Bushra’s room, kept in a barrack with insects and flies, Imran said – ready to spend whole life in jail

The lawyer of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, arrested in Lahore, has said that the 70-year-old jailed leader is ready to spend the rest of his life in prison. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s lawyer further alleged that Khan was kept in a small vermin-infested cell in Attock Jail after the court’s verdict, which was a blow to Khan. Geo News quoted the lawyer as saying that the PTI chairman says he is ready to spend the rest of his life in jail. In the latest allegations, Imran Khan’s lawyer said that the PTI supremo has alleged that when he was at his home in Lahore, the police did not show him the arrest warrant and tried to break open the door of his wife’s room.

Imran Khan was arrested from his residence soon after he was found guilty of corrupt practice and sentenced to three years in jail in the Toshakhana corruption case by an Islamabad trial court. Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha said his client was provided C-class facilities in the jail in Punjab province. Panjotha said that the prison cell where the cricketer-turned-politician is infested with flies and insects. Panjotha, after meeting Khan in jail, said he was in a small room “which has an open toilet”. He told reporters that Khan complained that he was kept in a dark room with an open toilet, which was frequented by flies and ants.

I am kept in a dark room with no television or newspapers available. No one is allowed to meet me as if I am a terrorist,” Panjotha quoted Khan as saying. The lawyer explained Khan’s alleged prison conditions after meeting him in prison for an hour and 45 minutes in the presence of a prison official to take his signature to launch an appeal against his sentence.
