This bill has been introduced in the US Parliament on January 9 by Congressman Andy Biggs. The bill has currently been referred to the Ministry of External Affairs Committee for necessary action. After this, the bill will be presented for passage in the US House and Senate, if the bill is passed by both houses, then it will be sent to the US President for signing into law.

In order to maintain Pakistan’s status as a major non-NATO ally, the bill requires the US President to issue a certification that Pakistan has failed to arrest and prosecute members of the Haqqani Network. It has shown progress and taken steps to demonstrate its commitment to preventing the Haqqani Network from using any Pakistani territory as a sanctuary.
