At least 16 people, including two children, were killed when a helicopter crashed into a building in the town of Brovary near the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Wednesday. An aide to the president said emergency services had arrived at the scene. The Home Minister of Ukraine is also reported to have died in the accident. Kyiv region governor Oleksiy Kuleba wrote on the Telegram messaging app: “There were children and staff in the nursery at the time of the tragedy. Now everyone has been evacuated. It was not immediately clear what caused the helicopter to crash. There was no immediate comment from Russia and Ukrainian officials made no reference to any Russian offensive in the area at the time. “We are receiving information about casualties and circumstances,” Kirylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
