Belarus President ended Wagner protest but embarrassed Putin

Putin had asked for help!
The Washington-based think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has said that the truth is that it was not Putin but Lukashenko who successfully stopped the march to Moscow led by Wagner troops. Belarus can get additional advantage because of Lukashenko. On behalf of the media office of the President of Belarus, it has been said that Putin informed Lukashenko about the crisis in southern Russia on the morning of 24 June. Putin is believed to have sought Lukashenko’s help in dealing with the rebellion.
According to the think tank, Lukashenko used his ‘existing channels’ to talk with Prigozhin. This clearly means that Lukashenko influenced Prigozhin to some extent. Because of this, perhaps the situation became normal.
Lukashenko can take advantage
In the year 2020 of the think tank, Belarus authorities arrested three Russian citizens associated with the Wagner Group. Lukashenko accused these people of intending to interfere in the Belarus elections. Despite this, the Wagner group used Belarus as a transit point for their mission. Following the incident, on August 15, 2020, Lukashenko made a call to Putin following which 32 Wagner personnel were released. It is believed that now Lukashenko can take advantage of the failed rebellion to fulfill his objective.
Prigozhin had an objection
During the arbitration, there was talk of sending Baj Prigozhin to Belarus, so he did not agree at first. Belarus is a country known for supporting Russia’s incursion into Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the terms of the deal included dropping the charges against Prigozhin. Lukashenko played a key role in making the deal possible.
