Big relief to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana case

Imran Khan: Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq said that the hearing of the appeal against the sentence will be scheduled after the Eid holidays.
Along with the punishment to Imran and Bushra Bibi, a fine of Rs 78.7 crore was also imposed.
In the Toshakhana case, on January 31, the court had sentenced Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years in jail. Apart from the punishment, the court had also barred both of them from being reinstated in any public post for 10 years. The court had also imposed a collective fine of Rs 78.7 crore on him.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi sentenced to 7 years each in marriage case
Describing the marriage of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi as illegal, the court had sentenced both of them to 7 years imprisonment. On February 3 this year, the Pakistani court had declared the marriage of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi illegal. In the ‘non-Islamic marriage’ case, the court heard for about 14 hours and then gave its verdict. The court sentenced both of them to 7 years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each.
What is Toshakhana case?
In the Toshakhana corruption case, 71-year-old Khan is accused of keeping expensive government gifts received during his tenure as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Under Toshakhana rules, government officials can keep gifts after paying the price but the gift must be deposited first. Khan and his wife either failed to deposit the gift or allegedly acquired it at a lower price by using their authority.
