Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh of the Lahore High Court passed the orders while hearing a petition by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary seeking to stop the “atrocities” outside Zaman Park.

Hours after PTI supporters and law enforcement agencies engaged in a standoff outside former Prime Minister Imran’s residence, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday stayed police action in Zaman Park till 10 am tomorrow (Thursday). Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh of the Lahore High Court passed the orders while hearing a petition by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary seeking to stop the “atrocities” outside Zaman Park. Earlier, the court had directed the Inspector General of Punjab, Chief Secretary and Islamabad Police (Operation) chief to be present in the court by 3 pm.

On Wednesday morning the Islamabad Police, supported by the Punjab Police and the Rangers, resumed efforts to arrest the former prime minister in connection with the Toshakhana case – which began on Tuesday. Imran skipped the indictment several times, due to which the judge issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for him. However, he faced stiff opposition from PTI workers, who pelted stones at him. The police responded with tear gas shells.
