China making world’s largest dam on India’s Brahmaputra river amid LAC standoff

Brahmaputra originated from Tibet
The Brahmaputra River is 3,969 kilometers long, originating from the Angsi Glacier near Mount Kailash and surrounded by the Himalayas in the east. Outside the border of India, it is called as Yarlung-Tsangpo in China. This river flows through different regions. Originating from Tibet, it passes through India and finally ends in Bangladesh. After flowing east for 1,100 km, it is joined by several tributaries. After this it takes a sudden turn towards north-east. Then it turns south, crossing China, making its way through narrow valleys between the mountain ranges on the eastern edge of the Himalayas. This part comes under LAC and as soon as it emerges from India, falls in a deep gorge of 5,000 meters or more on both sides. It is the ninth largest river in the world.
