In February, China’s national consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.7 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics. Of these, the consumer price index in urban areas increased by 0.8 percent and the consumer price index in rural areas increased by 0.5 percent. During this period, food prices declined by 0.9 percent, while non-food prices increased by 1.1 percent. Also, prices of consumer goods declined by 0.1 percent, while prices of service sector products increased by 1.9 percent. From January 2024 to February, China’s national average consumer prices were similar to the same period last year.
In February, China’s national consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.0 percent from the previous month. Of these, consumer prices in urban areas increased by 1.1 percent and consumer prices in rural areas increased by 0.9 percent. Food prices rose 3.3 percent, while non-food prices rose 0.5 percent. Also, prices of consumer goods rose by 1.1 percent, while prices of service products rose by 1.0 percent.
