Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the delegation met senior members of the Afghan government, former President Hamid Karzai, officials of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and members of the Afghan business community. He said the delegation discussed India’s humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and also the use of Chabahar port by Afghan traders.

An Afghan government statement said Singh and Muttaki discussed issues related to security, trade and counter-narcotics. Expressing gratitude to India for humanitarian assistance, Muttaki said that Afghanistan wants to strengthen political and economic ties with India. India is also emphasizing that Afghan soil should not be used for terrorist activities against any country.
