Concerned about CAA, keeping an eye on its implementation: America – Dainik Savera Times

Washington. The US on Thursday said it is concerned about the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) being notified in India and is closely monitoring its implementation. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in his daily press conference, “We are concerned about the notification of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act issued on March 11.” Miller said in response to a question, “We We are closely monitoring how this Act will be implemented. Respect for religious freedom and equal treatment under the law of all communities are fundamental democratic principles.” The Indian government on Monday enacted the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019, allowing citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014. The path for granting citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants was paved.

The government has also said that Indian Muslims do not need to worry about the CAA as this law has nothing to do with Indian Muslims and they have the same rights as their counterpart Hindu Indian citizens. The Government of India has said that the purpose of CAA is to give citizenship and because of this no citizen of the country will lose his citizenship.
