Beijing : The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged China to continue sharing information about the current wave of COVID-19. There were complaints that the government there is not telling anything about what is happening in China. After this, the Chinese government had announced the death of about 60,000 people from the infection since the beginning of December. Saturday’s announcement was the first official death toll since the ruling Communist Party abruptly lifted restrictions despite a record spike in hospital infections in December.
The WHO and other countries appealed to China to share data, while the US, South Korea and others have imposed restrictions on people coming from China. The government said that 5,503 people died of respiratory-related causes due to Kovid-19 and 54,435 people died of cancer, heart disease and other diseases along with the pandemic between December 8 and January 12.

Appeal to keep sharing information
The WHO said in a statement that China’s announcement ‘will help to better understand the epidemiological situation’. The statement said that WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus spoke on the phone with Chinese Health Minister Ma Xiaowei. The agency said, “WHO requested that this type of detailed information continue to be shared with us and the public.”
