Elon Musk’s social media platform ‘X’ sued the Attorney General of California – Dainik Savera Times

California: Elon Musk’s social media platform X was formerly known as micro-blogging site Twitter. California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the first-of-its-kind law a year ago.
X Corporation challenged the constitutionality and legality of the law in a lawsuit filed Friday against California Attorney General Robert Bonta, saying it violates the First Amendment. According to ‘Assembly Bill 587’, social media platforms are required to make public their policies regarding changes to their content. These platforms also submit reports to the government twice a year on how they deal with hate speech, racism, misinformation, foreign political interference and other issues.
The law, the lawsuit filed in California’s Eastern District Court says, improperly interferes with the constitutionally protected editorial decisions of companies like X Corporation. This law puts pressure on companies to remove or make changes to constitutionally protected speech. Musk has ended the system for making changes to the platform’s content since he acquired ownership of Twitter in October 2022.
They have laid off the staff responsible for removing problematic content and reinstated accounts that were banned for promoting hate speech, Nazism and white nationalist content and harassing users.
