G-20: Rann of Kutch in Gujarat to host first Tourism Working Group meeting

Ahmedabad : Gujarat will host the first Tourism Working Group (TWG) meeting under India’s G-20 chairmanship at Dhordo Tent City in the Rann of Kutch on Tuesday. The officers provided this information. An official statement said the three-day meeting of the TWG was attended by Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy will also attend.
This will be the second G-20 event in the state after the ‘Business 20 Inception’ event held in Gandhinagar last month.Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will attend the TWG meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to a government release, on the first day the dignitaries will get a chance to see the White Rann of Kutch. They will then participate in a program showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region, while a program will also focus on ‘Rural Tourism for Community Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation’.
In this program, Union Minister Reddy, Head of Tourism Market Intelligence and Competitiveness of World Tourism Organization Sandra Carvao and others will present their views. There will also be a panel discussion on ‘How Tourism Policy Can Support Tourism’s Contribution to Rural Development’ featuring experts from United Nations Environment Programme, Asian Development Bank, International Labor Organization and experts from Indonesia, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Japan, Saudi Several speakers, including representatives from Arabia and Argentina, will present their views.
The release said, “On February 8, Chief Minister Patel and Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Purushottam Rupala will inaugurate the TWG. This will be followed by executive sessions on five key themes – Green Tourism, Digitization, Skilling, Tourism MSME and Venue Management.
