Gaza Ceasefire: ‘Enforce ceasefire in Gaza’, UN Security Council resolution approved

Pudhari Online Desk: Gaza Ceasefire: The United Nations Security Council on Monday approved a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Citing the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the Security Council has called for an immediate end to the war. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has given information about this through X-post.

Antonio Guterres said in the post that the council adopted a resolution calling for a halt to the war in Gaza and the unconditional evacuation of the people of Olyssa who were detained by Hamas following Israel’s October 7 attack. Its implementation should be done soon.

Mandala would have been one of the 12 non-permanent member countries of the international forum, including Algeria, Guyana, Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, South Korea and Switzerland. Regarding the resolution, Mozambique’s ambassador to the United Nations, Pedro Comisario Afonso, said, ‘We express our gratitude for the resolution and the efforts of all the Council members to end the catastrophic situation in Gaza. The situation in Gaza is a matter of grave concern for the entire international community. The devastating consequences of the Gaza Strip are a clear threat to international peace and security.
