London: Britain’s King Charles III said that he is overwhelmed by the well-wishes he has been receiving from people after learning that he was suffering from cancer. The Maharaja said this in his weekly meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for the first time after stepping away from public duties for his treatment.
Charles also met the ‘Privy Council’. It is a group of senior officials who meet once a month to advise the Maharaja on government matters. Charles (75) has said that he wants to continue performing his duties towards his country. Charles, dressed in a navy blue suit and tie, also joked with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace.
In the video released by the Palace, Sunak said, ‘It is very good to see you well.’ To this Charles said, ‘It is a miracle of all mirrors.’ Sunak said, ‘We are all happy with you. You are with us, in fact the whole country is with you.’ Charles said, ‘I have received many wonderful messages and cards. Sometimes it makes me emotional.”
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Maharaja was suffering from cancer, although it was not told whether he had cancer in any organ or at what stage.
