Inaugurating a school opened here with India’s assistance, Saud said the developmental project was particularly important as it would ensure education for generations of Nepali students and help them in their future careers. Ambassador of India to Nepal Naveen Srivastava was also present on the occasion. Saud also said that he looked forward to India’s continued support in Nepal’s development. Ambassador Srivastava highlighted that this project is an important part of the very strong development partnership between India and Nepal, which has made significant progress in recent years covering various priority areas for the Government of Nepal and its people.
They assured the continued commitment of the Government of India to promote the development partnership in line with the priorities of the Government of Nepal for the benefit of the people of both countries. Addressing a function on Saturday, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said that ‘unfortunately you have a neighbor like India, but fortunately you have a neighbor like India, because India is a huge market with immense potential, Which you can take advantage of. Song had said, “But at the same time, India’s policy towards Nepal and other neighbors is not so friendly and not so beneficial to Nepal. That’s why we call it the policy of constraints. The Chinese ambassador had said, “When the government of Nepal makes your economic policies, you have to take your decisions under those circumstances.” The Chinese ambassador’s remarks had sparked controversy in Nepal, leading to calls for protests against Song’s statement against the country’s neighbour.
