Former Pakistan Prime Minister and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan alleged that he was abducted from outside the Islamabad High Court and was also beaten with sticks by the police. Imran Khan was produced before Pakistan’s Supreme Court during a hearing on his plea against his dramatic arrest in a corruption case after the country’s anti-corruption watchdog ordered the former prime minister to be brought in. The order to produce Khan, 70, was issued by a three-judge bench, comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Athar Minallah. Declaring the arrest of Imran Khan illegal in the Al Qadir Trust case, the Supreme Court ordered his immediate release. After which Imran Khan was released late in the evening.

Imran Khan told the Supreme Court that he was abducted from the High Court and was also beaten with sticks. This has not been done even with any criminal. I don’t know anything, I still don’t know what happened. The PTI chief said that if anyone wants to arrest me, I should be given a warrant. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court termed the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan by the anti-corruption agency as illegal and ordered his immediate release. The Supreme Court directed Imran Khan to appear before the Islamabad High Court on Friday.

The court also allowed Khan to meet his family, but did not allow him to go home citing security reasons. Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan will be kept at the Police Line Guest House in Islamabad.

The bench, which was hearing the plea of ​​Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman against his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case, expressed anger over the manner in which Khan was taken into custody from the premises of the Islamabad High Court. The Supreme Court had directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce Khan by 4:30 pm (local time) when the court would resume.
