Tehran: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned on Sunday that the conflict would escalate if Israel continued attacks on the Gaza Strip. Raisi said in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron that if the Zionist regime wants to pay the price of its defeat by continuing these crimes (against Palestinians), the war will expand.
According to a statement published on the website of the Iranian president’s office, Mr. Raisi strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Palestinians in the past few days and criticized the French government for preventing a rally in support of the Palestinian people. The French President, for his part, expressed concern over the escalation of the crisis in the Gaza Strip and called on Iran to play its influential role in controlling the situation in the region.
However, Mr Raisi said that ‘resistance groups can decide on their own.’ It is noteworthy that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) suddenly attacked Israel on October 7 with thousands of rockets and infiltration of a large number of terrorists. In response, Israel launched extensive air strikes on Gaza. The conflict continues, and into its ninth day, approximately 4,000 people on both sides have been killed and many more injured.
