Imran Khan’s wife visits him in Adiala jail on Eid

Islamabad. Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi visited him in Adiala jail on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr after a Pakistani court allowed her to visit the former prime minister in jail. This information was given in the media reports on Thursday. Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has been lodged in Adiala jail since August last year while Bushra Bibi was imprisoned in Khan’s Bani Gala residence which has since been converted into a sub-jail. He was sentenced in the ‘non-Islamic marriage’ case in February.

The police fixed the meeting and transferred Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala sub-jail to Adiala jail on Wednesday, on the occasion of Eid, The Friday Times reported. The meeting was arranged in the Adiala jail conference room. Traffic was stopped on one side of the road leading to the jail for Bushra Bibi’s visit. Giving temporary relief to Imran and Bushra, the Islamabad High Court on April 1 suspended their 14-year sentence in the Toshakhana corruption case and granted them bail.

Despite this reprieve, neither Khan nor Bushra Bibi were released as they have been convicted in several other cases. Meanwhile, several PTI members also gathered outside Adiala jail and raised slogans in support of Khan. “Police, however, have barricaded the road leading to the jail, making it impossible for them to reach the main gate of the jail,” the newspaper said. Later PTI supporters left the place.
