Beijing:India’s Ambassador to Beijing Pradeep Kumar Rawat handed over his credentials to Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday. US Ambassador to China Robert Nicholas Burns was among the ambassadors who handed over credentials to Xi. Rawat had replaced Vikram Misri as India’s ambassador to Beijing in March 2022.

Who is Pradeep Rawat
Rawat, a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), was earlier India’s ambassador to the Netherlands. Rawat’s appointment comes at a time when there is a deadlock between the two countries on the eastern Ladakh border. The two countries have held 18 rounds of military-level talks to resolve the issue. Earlier, in his diplomatic career, Rawat has served in Hong Kong and Beijing. Rawat was the Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor-Leste from September 2017 to December 2020. He speaks Mandarin language fluently.

In his speech welcoming the ambassadors, President Xi said that China is ready to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen friendship with peoples of other countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
