India is going to start a mega hydropower project on the border of China. This project will help in generating large amount of electricity. For so many days the work of this mega project was stuck due to disagreement. But now amid the increasing challenges of the dragon, India is going to start the country’s biggest project on the China border. It is being touted as an important step in the energy transformation of the country. State-run hydropower company NHPC Ltd will begin trial runs in July for the Subansiri Lower project that runs through the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the country’s northeast. According to Finance Director Rajendra Prasad Goyal, the first unit is expected to be commissioned in December.

This 2880 MW project will be built on the Dibang River in Dibang district of Arunachal Pradesh. In February itself, NHPC Limited informed that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved an investment of Rs 1,600 crore for pre-investment activities for its 2,880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Finance Director said that all the eight units would be commissioned by the end of 2024.
