Experts say that America has formed the ‘Quad’ called Asian NATO to surround China. It also includes India, Japan and Australia. Now the President of China, worried about the quad, has started the Global Security Initiative, which is being called China’s NATO. China wants Nepal to join it as well. Nepal has not yet responded to this. BRI agreement was signed between Nepal and China in the year 2017, which has now become a huge web of debt in the world. Many countries like Pakistan have reached the brink of default by getting stuck in BRI loans.
Nepal scolded China on GSI
According to the report of the Kathmandu Post, Nepal may have signed the BRI but till now it has neither discussed nor implemented a single project showing understanding. However, Nepal has committed to seek support through GDI. Not only this, under this, China has already started two projects in Nepal. Zhao Lejie, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Parliament of China, thanked Nepal for supporting the GDI in Beijing.
Zhao Leji claimed that joining the GSI and GCI would bring peace, stability and prosperity to the region and the world. He made this statement after meeting the Speaker of the Nepali Parliament, Ganesh Prasad. Ganesh is currently on a tour of China. China has repeatedly asked Nepal to join the GSI but Kathmandu is avoiding it. Nepal has clearly stated that its foreign policy prohibits it from joining any security or military alliance. Nepal believes that the GSI is a military alliance. A Nepali diplomat told that we have clearly told our side to China earlier.
