This week in IndiaTheNews News Network’s special program Shaurya Path, we wanted to know from Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd.) what the situation in Pakistan after the elections shows? We also wanted to know whether Pakistan’s mandate this time is against its army? In response to this he said that there is no doubt that the people of Pakistan have taught a lesson not only to the army but also to Nawaz Sharif. He said that during his three tenures, Nawaz Sharif did nothing except earn wealth for his family, that is why even though the army has forgiven him, the public has not been able to forgive him. He said that apart from this, the public is very angry with the way Nawaz Sharif, sitting in London, through his brother Shahbaz Sharif, toppled the elected government of Pakistan and put Imran Khan behind bars with the help of the army. He said that this is the first time in the history of Pakistan that the people there have thwarted the objectives of the army.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retired) said that now according to the situation in Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif’s name has been put forward. But this is not the end of Nawaz Sharif’s political career as he will now run the government through remote control, he said. He said if everything goes according to plan, a six-party coalition government is likely to take power early next month. He said that none of the three parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would get majority in the National Assembly in the general elections held on February 8. Required seats have not been found. Therefore, none of these parties is capable of forming a government alone.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that according to the deal made between political parties in Pakistan to keep Imran Khan away from power, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will be at the centre. It has agreed to form a coalition government with Pakistan but has sought the presidency for its top leader Asif Ali Zardari. He said that if there is no change in the situation, the country will see a Prime Minister from PML-N party and a President from PPP. He said that PPP Chairman Zardari had been the President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013. He said that the current President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi is going to leave his post by the end of this month.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retired) said that along with the elections, Pakistan Army has also suffered a big blow from the top court there. He said the Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken a tough stance against the business activities of the powerful military and has sought assurance from the government to ensure that the armed forces focus only on defense related matters and not on business. He said that the top court of Pakistan has emphasized that all the institutions of the country should remain within their constitutional limits. He said the case was initiated by former CJP Gulzar Ahmed in 2021 when the court’s attention was drawn to the illegal use of Cantonment Board land in Karachi. He said that this land was acquired for strategic purposes, but it was used for commercial gains. He said that the Army has established ‘marriage halls’ on military land which is surprising.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that but the picture is still different in Pakistan because the army there feels that the situation like 1970 may arise again when Mujibar Rahman was being persecuted and the public stood with him. And Pakistan was divided. He said that Pakistan’s army feels that if the people revolt and support Imran Khan, then the country might be disintegrated again. He said that anyway there is already unrest in various areas including Balochistan and many groups there are waiting for the right opportunity.
