Kansas City: One person was killed and 22 people were injured in firing during the parade taken out on Wednesday after the victory of America’s Kansas City Chiefs in the ‘Super Bowl’ (football championship). Eight children were also among the injured. Officials said that fans frightened by the firing started running here and there to save their lives. Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves informed about the shooting incident at a press conference and said that three people have been detained.
She said it was learned that football fans helped capture a suspect but she could not confirm this at this time. The police have not yet given any information about the identity of the detained people or the motive behind the incident. This is the latest incident of firing at a public event in America. Last year, several people were injured in a shooting in Denver after the Nuggets won the NBA Championship.
Missouri Republican Governor Mike Parson and his wife Teresa Parson were present at the parade but were not injured. A White House spokesperson said that President Joe Biden has been informed about the shooting incident in Kansas City and is keeping an eye on the matter.
