beirut (Uttam Hindu News): Lebanese military sources told the media that Israeli warplanes fired two missiles and attacked the city of Marwahin in southern Lebanon.
According to military sources, thick plumes of black smoke rose from the targeted area, while Israeli military and reconnaissance aircraft were still flying in Lebanese airspace.
Sources said on Sunday that heavy Israeli artillery fired 45 shells on the outskirts of the border towns of Marwahin and Blida in southwest Lebanon, Xinhua news agency reported.
Earlier on Sunday, Lebanon-based armed group and political party Hezbollah launched a guided Kornet missile at Jahr al-Jamal, an Israeli military site in southwest Lebanon, killing one Israeli soldier and wounding three others.
The situation along the Lebanese-Israeli border deteriorated after Hezbollah fired dozens of missiles on October 8 toward military positions in Shebaa Farms in support of Hamas, forcing Israeli forces to withdraw. The same day, it responded with heavy artillery fire targeting several areas in southeastern Lebanon.
