The Israeli army has withdrawn its troops from Gaza’s main hospital after two weeks of attacks, leaving behind a huge trail of destruction. Palestinian residents gave this information.
Following the withdrawal of Israeli troops, hundreds of people returned to Shifa Hospital and surrounding areas on Monday morning, where they found bodies lying inside and outside the hospital.
The Israeli military described the attack as one of its most successful in the nearly six-month war, saying it had killed hundreds of Hamas and other militants and seized some important intelligence documents.
Mohammed Mahdi, who returned to the area after Israeli forces withdrew, described the scene as “complete devastation.” He said that many buildings were burnt. They counted six bodies in the area.
Two of these bodies were lying in the hospital premises. Another resident, Yahia Abu Auf, said the hospital was filled with patients, medical workers and displaced people. He said that many patients have been taken to the nearby Ahli Hospital. He said Army bulldozers had demolished a temporary cemetery inside the hospital premises.
