This port is being built in Cox’s Bazar district of Bangladesh where container terminal and electric power plant will also be present.
The sea area around this port will be deepened so that large ships and tankers can also come. With this, iron ore can be imported and Bangladesh’s cloth can be exported on a large scale around the world. JAICA said the Matabari port would be similar to Sri Lanka’s Colombo or Singapore ports in terms of water depth. Japan’s proposed industrial hub and port in Bangladesh is also expected to be of great benefit to Nepal and Bhutan, which are landlocked countries. 30 crore people can benefit from this.
