Major explosion in Indonesian military complex, 130 families evacuated – Dainik Savera Times
Jakarta: More than 130 families have been evacuated after an explosion at a military ammunition warehouse near the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Saturday evening. There is no report of any casualty in this incident. An official gave this information on Sunday. The explosion occurred at a warehouse owned by the Jayakarta Regional Military Command in Siangsana village in Bogor regency, West Java province, about seven kilometers from Jakarta’s eastern border.
Reports suggest that the sound of the explosion was heard within a radius of seven km. West Java’s acting governor Bey Machamudin told local media on Saturday that the evacuees were currently being housed in two separate temporary shelters. According to Mohammad Hasan, head of the regional military command, the fire brigade succeeded in extinguishing the explosions at around 3:45 am on Sunday.
He also confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident. Mr Hassan said the fire broke out in a warehouse within the military complex, which was used to store spent ammunition. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
