In a statement issued after Prachanda’s visit to India, it has been said that an agreement has been signed between the two countries regarding the Lower Arun Hydroelectric Project. India has agreed to buy 10,000 MW of power from Nepal in the next 10 years. Oli took aim at this and said that Prachanda had gifted two rivers, Fukot, Karnali and Arun, in exchange of groundnuts. He said that in the year 2019, when I was the Prime Minister, I had decided that Nepal itself would develop the Phukot Karnali project.
Oli himself gave the project to the Indian company
Oli said that this project could have been done cheaply but now it is being handed over to India. He asked if the Prime Minister could tell on what terms Phukot was handed over to the Indian company. At present, the survey license of this project is with the Indian company Vidyut Utpadan Company Limited. According to the report of the Nepali newspaper Kathmandu Post, KP Oli himself had taken steps to hand over the lower Arjun project to the Indian government company for which Prachanda is being accused.
The project was signed between India and Nepal on June 11, 2021, when Oli was the Prime Minister. The project was given to an Indian company long before Oli left office. A Nepali Congress leader said on Oli’s lie that now KP Oli is lying to show himself as a nationalist. In this way, the Nepali media itself has exposed the lies of Oli. It is the same KP Oli who has released a new political map of Nepal dancing at the behest of China. In this, he showed the disputed areas including Kalapani as belonging to Nepal.
